Facebook formats chart

Simply putting a video on Facebook isn’t as simple as it sounds. In fact, it can be a bloody nightmare.

Why? Because it’s hard to know what size and format your video should be. It turns out that there are 4 different places your video might end up, and each of these has different requirements. When your video shows up in search results, for example, it’s shown in the 1:1 ratio.

For the less mathematically inclined, that’s a square.Which means if your carefully crafted video isn’t a square, then it’s going to have some sides chopped off. You know, like Beckham’s infamous mohawk. And that might ruin your video entirely.

(The cropping, not the mohawk.) Luckily, we’ve put together a handy chart.

It shows you the various sizes you can choose from, and explains which works best for each part of Facebook.

Hopefully this’ll help put an end to poorly cropped videos, and help boost your engagement. Any questions? Give us a shout.
